OK folks, I've been getting requests to sign up for facebook by a few different people, one of which has an account here. But I can't sign up. I understood this site had word verification in audio, but now it seems to be gone. I clicked both on the signup link and on the right on the home page there's a signup form. Both do not have audio captcha, and I can't find a contact link for the company. The requests are coming through on AIM. So, how do we sign up if they took away the word verification and there is no contact link? Easy. Ask someone sighted. That I could do, but I understood they had an audio captcha, and it is discouraging that we as blind people can't even contact the company as there is no contact link.

Hmm. i just looked at the home page and they changed it. I can't look at the captcha unless I create an account and hit the sign up link, but I already have an account.

I read something in the Access World newsletter. They are supposed to have audio, but they said it only works if they detect your screen reader. I don't know how you detect the screen reader from the browser, but when I encounter the captcha for adding friends once in awhile, I have to keep reloading the page until the audio option comes up maybe 1 out of 10 times I try.

What browser are you using? I'm using firefox. How can they detect a screen reader? This is not acceptable in my opinion. I think I saw the option once when looking, but I was not interested then. Jenny, thanks for looking, I do appreciate it.

You can contact facebook, but they don't make it easy. I looked all over the pages for contact addresses once, and don't honestly remember how I finally found the info. However, I signed up before they had CAPTCHAs, so eh... there ya go.

Thanks Tyre, I'll go digging then. But I did the same with Yahoo! mail and groups. This isn't much help, but at least its something. Maybe after a good night's sleep, I'll go digging further. Thanks for the responses.

Well, with some poking around, I found the audio captcha, it is there ona a link that isn't visual. Too bad it doesn't work with firefox, but I did find it.

That's good. They changed their home page so I thought they really took it away. Somehow I don't thing they would do something like that.

I didn't think they would either, but I didn't find it and couldn't contact anyone, and still can't. I was going to try and find the people who invited me, but can't seem to find them.

Did you sign up with the email they send their request with? If not you can do a search for the names.

All I got were AIM requests, I didn't get any E-mails except for one, but now that I mention it, i think everyone sent AIM's.

I think you can search for aim screen names, or when you are logged in, see if there's a headding called "requests."

I didn't find any requests link anywhere. I did put my AIM screen name in there, so

I believe emails, screen names, and full names work in the search box.
